Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Flowing Rocks Tecnologia LTDA (being incorporated), the Brazilian company responsible for the Self Menu app (“we”). By using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app.
1. What Self Menu is
Self Menu is a food education app. It organizes your meals and shows information about foods: calories, nutrients, contaminants and the official references, always with the source.
2. The app informs; it doesn’t replace a professional
- Self Menu informs; it doesn’t replace advice from a dietitian or doctor. It doesn’t diagnose, treat or prevent disease and isn’t a medical device.
- The app doesn’t tell you what to eat. Decisions about your diet are yours and, when needed, a health professional’s.
- The app’s references (daily values and limits) are general, made for the population, and don’t take into account your health, your conditions or your medicines.
- The data comes from public, open sources and may have errors, change over time or be missing. An empty value means there is no reliable data, not that the value is zero.
- If you have an allergy, an illness, are pregnant, have an eating disorder or any question about your health, talk to a professional. In an emergency, seek medical care immediately.
3. Photo and speech analysis (AI)
- The analysis uses artificial intelligence to suggest the foods and amounts in a photo or in speech. It can make mistakes: confuse foods, miss hidden ingredients (such as oil and salt) and get amounts wrong. Check and correct everything before saving.
- What you save is your responsibility. The app’s totals depend on what was logged.
- The photo and the speech text are sent to an AI service (OpenAI) only for the analysis. Self Menu doesn’t keep the photo; the provider may keep it for a limited period, only to monitor abuse. Details in the Privacy Policy.
- Photograph only the food. Don’t send photos of people, documents or any illegal or offensive content.
- Dish icons are AI-generated drawings, for illustration only.
- To keep the service available to everyone, the analysis has usage limits. When you reach a limit, the app tells you and you can try again later.
4. Your account
- The app works without an account. An account is only needed for photo and speech analysis and for dish icons.
- You sign in with your Google account or, once this option reaches the app, with a code sent to your email. Keep your email and Google account secure: anyone with access to them can get into your Self Menu account.
- The account is personal. You can delete it whenever you want, in the app or by email (see Delete account).
- We may suspend or close an account used for abuse or against these terms, letting you know when possible.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app for anything illegal or that harms other people;
- try to access our server outside the app, with automated programs, or get around the usage limits;
- copy, modify, resell or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- interfere with the app or the server.
6. Payments
- Today, Self Menu is free.
- In the future, some features, such as photo and speech analysis, may be paid, by subscription or with credits. Before any charge, the price and terms will appear in the app and in the store, and you choose whether to pay.
- Payments will be made through the store (Google Play or the App Store), under its rules. Deleting your account or the app doesn’t cancel a subscription: you cancel it in the store.
- What you pay for belongs to your Self Menu account, not to the device.
- These terms will be updated with the payment rules before the first charge exists.
7. Content, brand and licenses
- The app, the Self Menu name and brand, the design and the code are ours or licensed to us.
- Food data comes from open sources, each with its own license. The full list, with the required attribution, is in the app, under Account › About › Sources and licenses.
- What you log in the app (dishes, entries, names) is yours.
8. Availability and changes to the app
- We work to keep the app running well, but it may have faults or be unavailable. The features that use the internet (analysis and icons) depend on our server and on providers.
- We may change, improve or discontinue features. If we discontinue the account service, we will let you know in advance, and the data on your phone stays with you.
- Keep a copy of your data (Account › Your data › Export backup): it lives on your phone, and we can’t recover it if the device is lost.
9. Liability
- We provide the app as it is, with the care described in these terms, but we don’t guarantee that the information is always complete or error-free.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions made solely on the basis of the app or for indirect damages.
- Nothing in these terms takes away the rights the law gives you as a consumer, in Brazil (Consumer Protection Code) or in the country where you live.
10. Privacy
How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
11. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we update the date at the top. If the change is important, we let you know in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means accepting the new terms; if you don’t agree, you can stop using the app and delete your account.
12. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. If you are a consumer in Brazil, you may bring a matter before the courts of your city. If you live in another country, the mandatory consumer protections of your country still apply, including the right to go to its courts. Before any legal action, write to us: most issues can be solved by email.
13. Contact
support@selfmenu.app for help with the app; privacy@selfmenu.app for privacy; contact@selfmenu.app for anything else. Flowing Rocks Tecnologia LTDA (being incorporated).
